Letter press printing is the vintage and dying technique of relief printing. Created using vintage machines to imprint / stamp an image repeatedly using raised 'type' or plates. Traditionally used individual letters or symbols put together in a ' chase '. This is how we create custom names / addresses etc. For more detailed designs we use specially created plates into our vintage presses. Each card is then hand placed , inked , rollered and pressed , before being transfered to a drying rack.

We love both the aesthetic and the feel of letter press. Also using only elbow grease and ourselves mean we're creating very little impact on the planet as what we do uses no electricity at all. It's also the most beautiful art we've tried and just fell in love.

Digitally printing , such as on standard or large format printing , is what took over from letter pressing. It's much faster , gives much more precise results...but for us, it just doesn't have that beautiful look and feel. Letter pressing is so authentically beautiful it's just a joy to hold. Years on and I'm still tracing over our cards with my finger tips amazed at what they create.
